Dreamfair Zenfire Beats The Boys
The Marc Campbell show continued Sunday afternoon (Nov. 7) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park as the P.E.I. pilot had four wins, including the Preferred Pace, to take control of the driver standings for the 12th consecutive year.
Top mare Dreamfair Zenfire took on the boys in the $3,400 Preferred Pace and, with a power move to front, she dominated the class in 1:54.3 for trainer/driver Campbell and owners Ryan and Everett MacLeod of Souris, P.E.I. Second went to Bugsy Maguire (Dale Spence) with Cowboy Logic (Steven Shepherd) completing the triactor.
The five-year-old daughter of Sunfire Blue Chip earned her 14th victory of the year from 21 starts while bumping her seasonal stash to $31,971. She returned $3.80 to win as the 4-5 favourite.
Campbell also visited the winner’s circle with Good Eye Hawkeye (1:56.1) for trainer Kyle Wilkie, Hunger Pangs (1:54.4) for Blaine McKenna and Big Bad Bruiser (1:57.2) from the Neil Bambrick barn.
Jason Hughes also had a quadruple on the day as the Stratford, P.E.I. driver won the first three races with Smart Official (1:57.2) for trainer Saul Lanigan and Woodmere Sheldon (2:02.3) and Michele Z Tam (1:57.1) from his own barn. His stable tripled up to give Hughes a fourth driving win with Unique Beach winning in 1:56 in race 11.
