Jeffery P Kicks Off Palone's Seven Wins
Jeffery P called the shots on the front but still had to hold off the late challenge of Keystone Chaos to capture Wednesday’s $16,000 Open Handicap Trot at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
The 3-5 favourite, Jeffery P rolled through a 1:24.3 three-quarters without a threat. When Keystone Chaos closed in, the six-year-old Full Count-Betty Jean gelding responded to Dave Palone’s urging and defeated Keystone Chaos by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:53.1. Just Like Magic completed the ticket.
Ron Burke trains Jeffery P, who won for the 12th time this year and lifted his lifetime bankroll to $337,961, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Phillip Collura.
The victory was the first of seven on the 12-race card for Palone, who drove three each for Burke and trainer Dirk Simpson.
Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday when the 12-race program features a $2,010.64 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
