OSAS Anniversary Tour Ends In Ottawa

On Thursday Oct. 28, Rideau Carleton Raceway will host the 12th and final Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society’s 25th anniversary race this year.

The field for the OSAS event, race four, will be headlined by veteran pacing mare Village Jamie.

The seven-year-old daughter of Mach Three is red hot of late with three wins and two second-place finishes in her last five starts, all at the Ottawa oval. Owned by Limco Inc. of Chateauguay, Que., Village Jamie is trained by Vic Puddy and will be driven by regular recent pilot Pascal Berube.

Thursday’s race will be number 149 in Village Jamie’s career. Her lifetime summary is 22-16-22 for $217,000 in earnings. She hails from a family of iron tough performers. Her 11-year-old full brother, Dull Roar, has eight wins so far this year for earnings over $64,000, with $532,000 lifetime.

A full sister, Village Jessica, earned in excess of $300,000 from 148 career outings and a half-sister, Village Janus, earned more than $370,000 during her time on the track. Village Jamie’s third dam is Village Jig, a top filly for Hall of Famer William Wellwood, who would produce another of his standouts, $1.5 million winner Village Jiffy, from her first foal.

Rideau’s post time on Thursday is 4 p.m., with the OSAS race scheduled to go postward at approximately 5 p.m.
