Five For Forward In Windsor
Driver Brad Forward had a big night at the border oval on Sunday evening as noted in the fact that he made five trips to the winner’s circle on the 12-race program
.
Forward, who was an O’Brien Award finalist as Canada’s Driver of the Year in 2009, struck early and often to bring his win total to 71 for the 2010 season.
He kicked off the card with back-to-back second-place finishes before finding his way to victory lane in Race 3 with Tigre Angus. The Bill Keeping trainee easily disposed of his foes in 1:57.3. He notched consecutive wins in Races 6 and 7 thanks to scores with Smooth Flight (1:56.4) and Shark Shooter (1:54.4).
He joined forces with high percentage trainer Chris Haskell in Race 9, and together they went home winners thanks to a gritty effort from Prince Val (1:54.3). Forward then took the finale with Dontstiffthevet (1:57).
The Woodstock, Ontario horseman, who has reined in more than 3,700 winners to date, is hovering just above the .400 mark in the UDR category this season.
