Thomas P Two Doubles In Autumn Series
The three-year-old Angus Hall colt Thomas P Two returned to Flamboro Downs on Sunday (Oct. 17) to record consecutive victories in the Autumn Series, for two- and three-year-old trotting colts and geldings, when winning his $8,500 division going coast-to-coast in 1:59.2.
Sent the 1-5 favourite, trainer-driver Wayne Henry took command with Thomas P Two heading to a :29.4 first quarter and faced little contention from that point. He strolled to a half in 1:00.3 and to three-quarters in 1:30.2 to stride home three lengths better than Muscles D Oro, who made a first-over move heading to the final turn to take second. Monster Mash finished third, another four lengths behind, and My Holy Moley took fourth.
Owned by Mark Wamp, Thomas P Two won his fourth race from six starts, earning $15,520. He paid $2.40 to win.
Doro Sogno protected his position from the pylon draw to take the other division of the Autumn Series in 2:00.
Grabbing an easy lead to a :29.3 first quarter, Doro Sogno encountered no challenge to a 1:00.3 half and three-quarters in 1:30.2, leaving the Brad Shakes trainee to his own devices through the lane as he rolled past the beam a 3-3/4-length winner over Massive Ovation. Q Tip finished third despite making a first-over bid to the final turn and Dirt finished fourth.
A gelding by Il Sogno Dream, Doro Sogno won his second race from six starts, earning $17,637 for owner Sylvain Fontaine. Travis Henry drove the $2.30 winner.
