A Masterpiece From Woodmere Ideal Art
Making his return to New Brunswick after some starts on Prince Edward Island, Woodmere Ideal Art picked up right where he left off with another impressive performance in the top class at Exhibition Park Raceway on Saturday (Oct. 16).
Leaving from the outside in the $1,600 Winners Over Handicap, Woodmere Ideal Art landed on the lead heading into the opening turn for driver John Davidson and managed a :29.1 opening quarter over the track rated 'good'. From there, Woodmere Ideal Art backed down the tempo and hit the half in a well-rated 1:01.2.
Little Manny was the second choice in the wagering, and driver Stephen Trites took his shot at the favourite during the third quarter. Trites took a serious run at the front down the backside, and the front pair matched strides through a 1:30 third station while gaining some separation from the field. Heading into the final turn, Little Manny and Trites raised the white flag and retreated to the pocket. Woodmere Ideal Art had no intention of relinquishing the lead, and hit the wire nearly five lengths the best in 1:59.1. Little Manny was best of the rest in second with Instant Shadow (Mark Haig) in a race of his own for the show spot.
Six-year-old Woodmere Ideal Art (Articulator - Very Ideal Hanover) is trained by Sifroi Melanson for his Ultimate Stable of Greater Lakeburn, N.B. Now a 28-time winner in his career, Woodmere Ideal Art sports career earnings of $93,617.
