Tajmeallover Takes On Track 2 Feature
The final card of racing for the 2021 season for The Track On 2 took place Friday, and veteran distaffer Tajmeallover took home top honours in the $4,800 feature race.
The 10-year-old daughter of Tajma Hall-Watch Over Me got away fourth in the five-horse affair for trainer/driver J.F. Gagne while Jessies Girl shot to the top and supplied the field with fractions of :28.1, :58.1 and 1:28.3. Tajmeallover commenced a first-over rally going to the three-quarter pole, and when Gagne called on her to sprint she did in a big way. Her :26.3 closing quarter earned her the win by 1-1/4 lengths over Tropical Dragon in 1:55.4. Outlaw Fireball was third.
Gagne shares ownership on the mare with Peter Van Seggelen, Carl Warnaar and Tapron Holdings Ltd. The 53-time winner, who is now 2-for-15 this season, is quickly closing in on $470,000 in lifetime earnings.
Despite being blanked on the seven-race, closing day card it was David Kelly who claimed the driving and training titles at the oval for 2021. Kelly racked up 22 wins – eight more than runner-up Mike Hennessey – in the drivers’ standings, and his 19 wins topped all trainers. Tom Miller and Nathan Sobey shared second place in the trainers’ standings with six wins apiece.
