Harmon, Ferrari Win In GLADA
Two solid $9,100 divisions of trotters in the Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association (GLADA) series went to post Saturday (Oct. 9) at Northfield Park. And when the judges declared each event official, Lauren Harmon and Larry Ferrari each scored a victory in their respective splits. Harmon won with Lillys Swan Pond in 1:57.1 while Ferrari scored behind Go Go George in 1:58.
In her split, Ms. Harmon left from post 2 and was content to allow Don Sheman and the favourite Sass take command in a :28.1 first panel. Once on the lead, Sherman kept the pedal to the metal and Sass showed the way to the half in :58.1. At that point, Ms. Harmon moved Lilys Swan Pond off the pylons and out to challenge for commandm, and the two leaders were heads apart when they trotted by three-quarters in 1:27.4. But on the final turn, Ms Harmon's charge began to draw clear and scooted home a 4-1/2-length winner in 1:57.1. Sass held on for second while Larry Ferrari got So Wishful up for the show dough.
Lilys Swan Pond is owned by the Second Chance Stable and trained by Carlei Myrick. She paid $10.80 for win and it was Lauren Harmon's eighth victory of her fledgling career.
In his split, Larry Ferrari took no prisoners and went down the road unchallenged until the deep stretch, where his charge Go Go George dug in and rebuffed a late bid from Fingals Wave and driver Don Sherman to score a neck win in 1:58. Third money went to Shake It Off Lindy who was driven by Manny Miller.
The winner is owned and trained by Larry Ferrari. Sent at odds of over 6-1, Go Go George paid $15.60. It was the sixth driving victory this season for Ferrari and his 363rd of his career.
