‘Vital’ Victorious In Mohawk Preferred
Warrawee Vital raced parked through a quick first half but kept his speed going to complete a 1:48 mile and win the $34,000 Preferred Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday (Oct. 2).
Wheels On Fire led the field to a :25.3 first quarter as Enavant ranged uncovered towards the top with Warrawee Vital following suit. Enavant crossed to the lead in the backstretch while Warrwee Vital inched closer to the lead into a :53 half and soon brushed to the front and opened two lengths on Enavant to the final turn. Leading to three-quarters in 1:20.1, Warrawee Vital had enough in the tank to rebuff a resurgent Enavant through the lane by three-quarter lengths with Wheels On Fire taking third and Best In Shoe finishing fourth.
A four-year-old stallion by Captaintreacherous, Warrawee Vital won his sixth race from 16 starts this season and his 14th from 32 overall, pushing his earnings to $422,506. The Rob Fellows trainee races under lease for current owners N. Yolanda Fellows and M&s Racing Stable Inc. and had Trevor Henry in the sulky. He paid $2.60 to win.
