Rennison & Trites Triple At EPR
The tandem of trainer George Rennison and driver Todd Trites were perfect on Saturday (Oct. 2) at Exhibition Park Raceway, combining for victory in all of their outings.
After starting the afternoon with an open length win courtesy Electric Syl (2:00.4, $4.70), Trites & Rennison swept the daily double with six-year-old gelding Dont Ask Logan. With a nearly 14-length score, Dont Ask Logan (McArdle - D J Cameo) notched the fastest mile of the day after tripping the timer in 1:57.4.
Ubettimagoodone ($6.00) completed the hat trick for Trites & Rennison in the fourth race, going wire-to-wire in 1:59.4.
It was a different Trites in the winner's circle for the feature event of the day as Little Manny and driver Stephen Trites prevailed with a monstrous effort in the $1,600 Winners Over Pace. The 4-5 choice was parked to the half by Instant Shadow (Todd Trites) after first fractions of :27.4 and a brisk :56.3. Little Manny finally cleared at the midway point and had every excuse to pack it in but the four-year-old found an extra gear to motor through a 1:26.4 third station and tough out the win by a length and a half over K D Overdrive (Kyle Mason) in 1:58.2.
Little Manny (Articulator - The Good Wife) is trained by Charlie Miles for driver Trites, Dean McLaughlin of Fredericton, Brad McLaughlin of Woodstock and Mark Taylor of Fredericton, N.B. The win is the pacer's seventh of the year and 12th lifetime, and it pushed his earnings to $35,576.
Live harness racing in New Brunswick takes a break next Saturday (Oct. 9) before returning on Saturday, Oct. 16.
