American Risk Repeats At Truro

American Risk ($2.50) was a repeat winner in the top class at Truro Raceway, leading all the way in sloppy conditions on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 26) for the George Rennison stable.

Driver Todd Trites put the popular pacer on the point leaving from post three in the featured $2,000 Winners Over and rebuffed an early challenge from Good Friday Three (Jeff Ellis), who took back and settled into the three-hole after a :27.2 opening quarter.

From there, American Risk led the way past the half in :57.1 and began to widen his lead by three-quarters in 1:27.2 while the first-up Lady N Paradise (David Carey) and a three-wide Imalookertoo (Darren Crowe) chased in vain.

American Risk cruised home 3-3/4 lengths on top, winning impressively in 1:55.4 over a sloppy track rated three seconds slow. Harry G (Ernest Laffin) finished second off the pocket trip, with Imalookertoo edging out the winner's stablemate, Dont Ask Logan (Andrew Campbell), for third.

American Risk, who has won four of the last five top class events at Truro, is owned by the local Risky Bizz Group. A winner of 14 races lifetime, the five-year-old American Ideal gelding is seven-for-16 on the year.

The victory completed a training triple on the eight-race card for Rennison. A four-time winner on the day, Trites's victories included the Rennison stablemates Lively Freddie ($8.10) and Mando Fun ($2.80).
