Five For Jamieson At Georgian
Georgian Downs kicked off its 2010 season on Tuesday evening, and the night belonged to driver Jody Jamieson who made five appearances in the winner’s circle
on the 12-race program.
Jamieson swept both ends of the Daily Double wager thanks to a 1:56 triumph in the opener with the Bill Robinson-trained Lost In The West and a gate-to-wire win with the Craig Gilmour-trained Speed Chip in Race 2. That trotter covered the mile in 2:00.3.
The double O’Brien Award-winning reinsman returned to the take the checkered flag in Race 7 with MD Hardlys Success, who front-stepped to an impressive tally in 1:56.2 for trainer Shawn Robinson. Super Delight completed the Grand Slam for Jamieson, who went to the front and didn’t look back in Race 9 with the Casie Coleman pupil. Cool Touch, a student from the Scott West stable, survived a first-over journey to take Race 10 in 1:57.4. And for Jamieson, the victory completed his five-win night at the office.
After putting together a 796-win season in 2009, Jamieson has already put together 81 wins this season despite missing most of the month of January. The career winner of 5,153 races has sat behind horses that have banked more than $66.7 million to date.
