Freshman Pacing Fillies Fight In DSBF
Freshman pacing fillies were in action in three $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) first-leg divisions Tuesday (Sept. 21) at Harrington Raceway.
In the first division, GTY Stable's Gaitway Gal ($2.80, Pat Berry) improved to three-for-four in her career with a comfortable 1:57.4 score over Mistatude and Tahoe. The Delmarvalous filly was a confident winner on the front for trainer Jeff Smith.
Favourites continued to dominate in the next division as 1-9 favourite Shabby Chic ($2.10, Tim Tetrick) was an easy winner over Bank The Win and Cowgirl Coffee in 1:57.2 in the second split. The Mike Hall-trainee improved her unbeaten record to three with the victory. The Badlands Hanover filly was under tight reign in the stretch for a confident score.
In the remaining DSBF division, George Teague Jr.'s Ky Ky ($2.40, Montrell Teague) led all the way in an 2:01 win over RJs Angel and Hearty Dragon. A daughter of Southwind Lynx, it was the first win for Ky Ky, who is trained by Clyde Francis.
