EEE, West Nile Cases Confirmed In Ont.

The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) has disclosed that three cases of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) and one case of West Nile Virus (WNV) were reported on Monday, Sept. 20.

Two of the EEE cases reported were on the same farm in the District of Parry Sound, with another suspect (untested) case.

The case of WNV was reported in the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville.

All were unvaccinated and all were euthanized/died.

These usually fatal diseases can be prevented by annual vaccination.
