Il Villaggio Tops Experimental Ratings
Stan Bergstein has ranked O'Brien Award winner Il Villaggio at the top of the United States Trotting Association's 2010 Experimental Ratings
for three-year-old trotters.
Bergstein has predicted that Il Villaggio will trot a mile in 1:51 this year for trainer Erv Miller. The youngster took a rookie mark of 1:55.4 at the Meadowlands while banking $488,183 and putting together a 6-for-8 record.
The son of Yankee Glide-Dance To Market made breaks to start and end his freshman campaign, but he was unbeatable in the six starts in between those efforts. His biggest win came on Canadian soil when he took down top prize in the $515,000 final of the William Wellwood Memorial Trot at Mohawk Racetrack. He also claimed wins in the $200,000 New Jersey Sires Stakes final at the Meadowlands and celebrated Grand Circuit scores in divisions of the Champlain Stakes and the Bluegrass Stakes.
Lucky Chucky, who is ranked second in Bergstein’s list, is projected to trot in 1:51.1 while Pilgrims Taj checks in third with a prediction of 1:51.2. Three fillies cracked the top ten in Bergstein’s list including O’Brien Award winner Poof Shes Gone, who is predicted to trot in 1:52.
