Batterup Hanover Wires Truro Pacers
Sophomore pacer Batterup Hanover hit it out of the park on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 12), easily winning the featured top class at Truro Raceway.
Sent postward as the overwhelming 1-4 favourite from the inside post in the $2,000 Winners Over, Batterup Hanover led all the way through fractions of :28.1 :57.4 and 1:27 en route to victory in 1:55 flat. He paid $2.50 to win.
Ashestodiamonds, who set the 1:54.2 track record for older pacing mares two weeks ago, followed 2-1/4 lengths behind from the pocket in rein to Darren Crowe while Harry G and Ernest Laffin tried it first-up down the backstretch and dropped into third off the final turn.
Trained and driven by Paul Langille, Batterup Hanover has won back-to-back starts at Truro this month to double his seasonal win count for his Nova Scotia connections -- owners Debbie Francis, Rosanne Langille and Douglas Lowthers.
The Betting Line-Beachbunny Hanover gelding now has six wins, three seconds and a pair of thirds from 18 career starts with more than $36,000 banked in purses.
