Gingras Gets Career Win No. 3,000

Yannick Gingras took the pressure off himself right away when he picked up career driving win No. 3,000 in the first race Wednesday night at the Meadowlands

Racetrack.

Gingras, who was one win shy entering the card, wired the field with 2-1 favourite Income De Vie for the milestone. He also got started on his next 1,000 with back-to-back wins in the third and fourth races aboard Man O Matic and Mega Lightning. The 30-year-old Quebec native is currently fifth in the Meadowlands driver standings and has ranked in the Top 10 each year since joining the colony in 2004. Gingras won $9 million in purses for the third straight year in 2009, placing him eighth among all drivers in North America.

A third-generation horseman, Gingras got his first win in 1998 and was the sport's 2003 Rising Star Award winner, as voted upon by the U.S. Harness Writers Association. He is best known for campaigning Darlins Delight, one of the richest pacing mares of all time with over $3 million in career earnings. Gingras and his wife, Vicki, live in Allentown, New Jersey with their five-year-old son, Jaiden, and one-year-old daughter, Addison.
