Racing Returns To Summerside
Racing returns to Prince County, P.E.I. with a special Wednesday evening program at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The special Wednesday evening program kicks off at 6 p.m., with 13-dashes on the night.
The top class of the program lines up in Race 12 with a wide-open, five-horse affair for $2,900.
Soccer Hanover has post three with Corey MacPherson in the race bike for trainer Leith Waite, who co-owns the horse with Les and Spencer Waite. The seven-year-old son of Dragon Again is a two-time winner in 2021 including his 1:56.2 best taken at Red Shores Summerside in June. Hunger Pangs is the morning line favourite from post five from the Blaine McKenna stable. Jason Hughes picks up the drive as the pacer comes in fresh off two trips in 1:54 and change finishing first and third.
Leaving from post two will be Flash In The Pang with Brodie MacPhee in the seat as the Hughie Murphy trainee looks for win number four of the season.
Nogreatmischief has rail control for trainer/driver Walter Cheverie with Best To Hurst, to be driven by Adam Merner, has post four for trainer Lloyd Hannah.
The Backstretch Beat in Wednesday’s program places Soccer Hanover on top of the evening feature. “Soccer Hanover finds a more agreeable starting post for this one and with the closing speed, we know he has he could just get it all.”
Chocolate Swirl (Jason Hughes) is the top choice in the back-up class in Race 10 leaving from post five for conditioner Jennifer Doyle, who co-owns the pacers with Danny Birt of Earnscliffe, P.E.I. The pacer will have top competitors in Mando Fun (Merner) and Heart And Soul (Cheverie).
