Flirtinwiththehelp Tops Summer Mixed

Yearling filly Flirtinwiththehelp fetched the highest price at the Blooded Horse Sales Company's 2021 Summer Mixed Sale on Tuesday (August 24) at the Champions Center in Springfield, Ohio.

A daughter of Helpisontheway - Classical Flirt, Flirtinwiththehelp is a half-sister to the decorated Hambletonian winner and triple millionaire Market Share 1:50.2f ($3,792,877). The flashy filly was consigned by Ruddick Stables and collared by Black Magic Racing's Greg Luther for $50,000.

Other yearlings of note were Marsea Beaucoup, a Downbytheseaside colt out of the Artsplace mare Mary Artman (p, 3, 1:53, $125,000), that was purchased by Burke Racing Stable LLC for $33,000 from the Spring Haven Farm consignment. They were also the agent for Lifetime, a Royalty For Life colt purchased by Reuben Troyer Jr. of Ohio for $18,000.

Among the racehorses entered in the sale, six-year-old trotting gelding Bank Guard topped the charts with a $40,000 final bid. The 17-time winner recently won in 1:55.1 over Northfield Park, just two-fifths of a second off his 1:54.4 lifetime best set over the Cleveland half-mile oval in May. Gray Thunder II Stable of New Rochelle, N.Y., was the successful bidder.

The Burke Racing Stable consignment featured the Ohio-eligible three-year-old pacing fillies Pinknperfect, by Well Said; and Winella Hanover, by Racing Hill. Daniel Schrock got Pinknperfect for $32,000 and Tim Troyer got Winella Hanover for $28,000. The Burke consignment also included the promising Captaintreacherous gelding The Big Picture, who went to Bill and Leah Rhoades of Pennsylvania for $26,000.

The 2021 Summer Mixed Sale featured 281 horses that changed hands over the course of the day, with total sales of more than $2.48 million and an overall average of $8,809.
