Wayne Elroy Roode Passes

Wayne Elroy Roode, 73, of Bible Hill N.S., passed away with his loving daughters at his side on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.

Born in Belmont, he was a son of the late Ralph and Myrtle (McRae) Roode.

Wayne worked as a welding instructor at Nova Scotia Agricultural College and then owned and operated his own business, Wayne’s Saddlery, Boot and Harness, until a short time before his death. He was well-known at Truro Raceway; he absolutely loved horses and also owned racehorses. He was always happy, had a positive outlook on life, a great laugh and was the life of the party. He loved life and enjoyed spending time in nature, especially enjoying trail rides with family and friends. Wayne’s K-9 companion, Bizzy, was never far from his side.

Wayne is survived by his daughters, Ashley Purcell, Lindsey Roode, Kelsi Roode, all of Calgary; granddaughter, Savannah Purcell, Calgary; siblings, Dorothy (Reg) Culgin, Belmont; Joan (Phil) Feit, New Glasgow; Sonny (Faye) Roode, Belmont; Janet Wagar (Sam), Calgary; Phillip (Joyce) Roode, New Glasgow; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Reginald Roode.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of his valued patrons for their support over the last 30 years.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 25 at 12 p.m. Celebration of life will follow at Wayne’s Saddlery from 2:30–7 p.m. If so desired, donations in Wayne’s memory to Truro Raceway or 4-H Nova Scotia are welcomed.
