Meadowlands To Display Driver Choice
Starting Wednesday, February 24, Meadowlands Racetrack bettors will be given additional handicapping information for each race
.
In most races, there are several drivers who are named to drive more than one horse when entries are made. Drivers have to decide which horse they will drive a few days prior to the printing of the racing program. A new television graphic will now show these choices. If a driver was listed on multiple horses in a race, the graphic will list those horses and indicate the driver’s choice.
"Many bettors feel driver choices are one of the most important handicapping angles at the track and several of our fans have requested a way to obtain that information,” said Director of Simulcasting/Track Announcer Sam McKee. “By adding these new graphics pages on our television signal, both on-track and simulcast patrons will have access to what is considered a very useful handicapping tool."

I agree that this is a very important handicapping angle but why not make it available in the program as WEG does? Also, why not list the trainers the last 6 starts as they do the drivers? Trainer changes/driver choices are 2 of the most important tools in handicapping a race, it should be in the program. But also realize that I live in Dresden, Ontario, Canada with only Dresden and Hiawatha simulcast programs available to me, which show neither trainer changes or driver choices. Hopefully you will listen to your customers and make them available, preferrably in the program. After all, you are by far,..... by far the #1 harness track in the world, but there is always room to improve.
