Moneyman Hill Climbs In Class To Win
Winning the Preferred 3 at Grand River Raceway just over a week ago, Moneyman Hill took his talents to Georgian Downs into the $13,000 Preferred 2 Pace, where he nabbed a 1:52 victory on Tuesday (Aug. 17).
Driver J. R. Plante protected position with the four-year-old Somebeachsomewhere gelding, leading the field to the quarter in :26.4. Outlawgrabbingears, the 8-5 favourite, then angled first over as the tempo slowed to a :56.1 half and applied mild pressure on Moneyman Hill in the sprint up the backside. Clicking three-quarters in 1:23.3, Moneyman Hill grew slightly leg weary through the final turn but held firm through the stretch as Bee Two Bee bolted off cover to take second, beaten three-quarter lengths. Pretty Handsome rode the pocket to third.
Owned by Aaron Waxman and Fox Racing Inc., Moneyman Hill won his second race from 14 starts this season and his ninth from 39 overall, earning $263,019. Duane Marfisi trains the $5.20 winner.
