Simoneau Dominates At St Aime
Trainers Marc-Andre Simoneau racked the victories on the 10-race card at St Aime Des Lacs on Sunday (Aug. 15), sending four winners on the 10-race card including in the 2-1/2 mile featured race.
Simoneau sent Hooter Shooter to the track for the $5,000 feature going farther than the standard distance, and the eight-year-old Badlands Hanover gelding obliged with a 12-length victory in a time of 5:19.3. Dreamfair Tecate, who grabbed the lead midway through the race, settled for second while Lady Lakeshore rallied for third. Marc-Andre Simoneau also owns the $4.20 winner.
Littlebitaswagger won a few races before for Simoneau in the $4,000 Invitational Pace. The nine-year-old Santana Blue Chip gelding led to a :27.4 first quarter and battled for command from Mickeymaksomespeed through middle fractions of :58 and 1:29 before emerging a half-length victorious in 1:59.4. Charles Gaudreault owns the $4.50 winner.
Also scoring in Simoneau’s grand slam were Aidan James ($3.00), a 2:08.4 winner in the opener; and Surf Report ($3.20), a 2:03 winner in a $1,200 event.
Trainer-driver Michel Audet took the $4,000 Invitational Trot with Mr Logan Mirox off a pocket trip in 2:04.4. The seven-year-old Mr Lavec gelding stalked a tempo of :30.4, 1:01 and 1:33.4 before making his move to the final turn and sliding to a half-length win over Precieuse CC. Roxanne Viau owns the $30.30 winner.
