Western Fair's 2009 Award Winners

A capacity crowd was on hand Saturday evening at Western Fair Raceway for the 32nd annual awards banquet at the London, Ontario racetrack

.

The Wall Tyme Award, given annually by Dave Wall’s stable for outstanding service to the industry, was presented to long time horse people Mary and Richard Carroll in recognition of their contributions to the sport.

Young driver Doug McNair captured his first driving title at Western Fair thanks to an outstanding season in 2009, which saw him score 223 victories at the half-mile track for $1.2 million in earnings, a significant contribution to his total 2009 numbers of 384 wins and $3.1 million in purses.

Paul Taylor won the trainer of the year title with a total of 55 wins.

The horse category winners are the richest of those which made a minimum of six starts last year at Western Fair.
