Tajmeallover Still Getting It Done

Last winning in Century Downs’ featured class in 2018, Tajmeallover – the 2016 Alberta Horse of the Year – scored her first victory as a 10-year-old in the $8,100 Fillies & Mares Open Pace on Tuesday (Aug. 10).
The veteran mare landed last of the sextet to a :28.1 quarter set by 3-5 favourite Mrs Suhwiggins and remained at the back of affairs through a :57.1 half. And though the tempo quickened into the backstretch, trainer-driver J. F. Gagne fired his mare from last to the lead passing three-quarters in 1:25. She continued in control around the final turn and coasted home a two-length winner over Mrs Suhwiggins, with Glimpseofgoodness rallying from last for third.
Co-owned by Gagne with Peter Van Seggelen, Carl Warnaar and Tapron Holdings Ltd., Tajmeallover won her first race from seven starts this season and her 52nd from 149 overall, earning $459,592. The daughter of Tajma Hall paid $12.60 to win.
In the co-featured $8,100 Open Pace, Armycaptin Hanover kicked off a quick pace to win in 1:54.1. The five-year-old gelding by Captaintreacherous sat off fractions of :27 and :55 established by a duel between 2-1 favourite Icy Blue Scooter and first-over Tiempo Hanover. As the fire dwindled on the point, trainer-driver Kelly Hoerdt loomed closer with his charge and looped tiring horses after three-quarters in 1:24. He slid to the finish three-quarter lengths better than Dontpokethdragon while Icy Blue Scooter held onto third.
