Nominations for the Kenneth Shand Memorial Series at Freehold Raceway will close on March 22, 2010

The series will feature preliminary legs on April 2 and 9, with purses of $7,000 and $8,000, respectively. The $20,000 (estimated) final is scheduled for April 16.

The series is for four-year-olds and up who are non-winners of $20,000 in 2009-2010, up to and including March 1, 2010. Also eligible are starters for a base claiming price of $7,500 or less one time in their six previous starts prior to and including March 18. There is no claiming in the series. The nominating fee is $250.

The series salutes the memory of horseman Kenneth Shand, 75, who passed away on January 12, 2009 at his home in Penns Gove, New Jersey. The Australian-born Shand was a popular driver, trainer and inventor of racing equipment.
