Little Manny Wins Big At Exhibition Park
Little Manny delivered in a big way, winning the $1,700 top pacing class by open lengths at Exhibition Park Raceway on a foggy Friday (August 6) evening.
Firing out from post five, the popular Charles Miles-trained Little Manny refused to settle for the pocket spot behind early leader Instant Shadow and took over command by the :29.3 opening quarter mark, with the rest of the field gapping the top two.
Little Manny widened his lead to three lengths through middle splits of :59.2 and 1:28.3, and continued to roll away from his rivals down the homestretch for a 6-1/4-length victory in 1:57.4.
In the race for place, Emperor improved position at the half and got up to nab the runner-up honours over Instant Shadow before the wire.
Little Manny, who was top three in the Walter Dale Invitational Pace last Saturday at EPR, has earned four wins in 15 starts this year and nine victories lifetime.
Driver Stephen Trites shares ownership of the four-year-old Articulator gelding with Brad McLaughlin of Woodstock, N.B., and Fredericton's Dean McLaughlin and Mark Taylor.
