Intended Royalty Repeats At Inverness
Randy and Edward Copley's Intended Royalty ($4.50) has now won his last four races at Inverness Raceway, having extended his streak by way of a commanding 1:57.4 score in Sunday's (Aug. 1) $1,250 featured pace at the historic Nova Scotian harness racing venue.
Subbing in for usual driver Redmond Doucet, Zachary Mullins took Intended Royalty back to last in the field of six while 10-1 outsider Sunshine Lou set early splits of :28.1 and :58.1. Up the backstretch, the 10-year-old No Pan Intended gelding began his pursuit more in earnest, sweeping three-wide around a tiring Dan Dar Mal in the breeze and then vaulting clear in upper stretch. Intended Royalty drew off to win for the 53rd time in his career by a widening five lengths; Daddy Let Me Drive (Rodney Gillis) emerged out of traffic to narrowly nab Eastcoast Invader (Leander Beaton) for runner-up honours.
