Sintra Swoops In Mohawk Preferred
Riding a helmet around the final turn, driver Jody Jamieson kicked off cover and accelerated home to take the $34,000 Preferred Handicap Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday (July 31).
Century Farroh set a clip of :26.3 and :55.2 on the lead with Wheels On Fire sitting second, Warrawee Vital third and Sintra fourth. To the far turn, Sintra angled off the pegs and caught cover as Wheels On Fire pulled pocket to three-quarters in 1:23.2, but Jamieson promptly fed Sintra racetrack in the straightaway and scooted away. He edged past Wheels On Fire to win by three-quarter lengths in 1:50 with Warrawee Vital finishing third and Century Farroh another four lengths behind in fourth.
An eight-year-old gelding by Mach Three, Sintra won his fourth race from 11 starts this season and his 37th from 90 overall, earning $1,451,567. Dave Menary trains the $12.00 winner for owners Michael Guerriero, Kelly Waxman, Nunzio Vena and Frank Cirillo.
