Im Chiara Quick In Prospect
The Thinking Out Loud filly Im Chiara swooped to the lead moving up the backstretch and coasted to a 1:55.1 victory over a “good” track in the second of two $7,300 divisions for the Prospect Series Three-Year-Old Filly Pace on Saturday (July 31) at Kawartha Downs.
Driven by Jason Ryan, the Aaron Byron trainee landed in fourth to a :27.4 quarter set by dueling leaders Windsun Gaga, racing at the pylons, and odds-on choice Betchuloveme, racing parked. The pair continued stride for stride to a :55.3 half before tiring into the backstretch, where Ryan rolled his charge to seize control. Taking over the lead to three-quarters in 1:24.4, Im Chiara cruised around the final turn and to the beam to win by a diminishing three lengths over closing Lets Roar. B Vanish rallied for third with Betchuloveme holding fourth.
Co-owned by Aaron Byron with J. Warren Casely, Im Chiara won her third race from 11 starts, earning $15,132. She paid $16.80 to win.
Lady Katie B kicked from off cover moving to the final turn to take the other division of the Prospect Series with a 1:57 effort. Driver Anthony Haughan settled the Bettors Delight filly in sixth to a :28.4 first quarter as Better Kissthe Men grabbed the lead. Better Kissthe Men continued on the point to a :58.3 half and faced pressure to three-quarters in 1:27.2 as Money Honey pulled first over to lead but stall the outer flow. Haughan fired Lady Katie B around horses and lunged for the lead through the stretch to nab victory by 1-1/4 lengths over pocket-sitter Shes A Beaut Clark. Cheddar This closed for third with Shez In Control taking fourth.
Owned by trainer Paul Cameron along with Jayme Cameron and TJs Stable, Lady Katie B won her third race from 10 starts, earning $16,842. She paid $15.70 to win.
