'Felicia,' Burn Notice Win Tioga Features
Bye Bye Felicia (Braxten Boyd) and Burn Notice (Wally Hennessey) took the Sunday (July 25) co-features at Tioga Downs.
Bye Bye Felicia ($8.40) went by late to win the $9,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace.
Come Get The Cash (John MacDonald) led to the first quarter in :27.3, but Prairie Westerngal (Hennessey) took control as they headed for the stands for the first time. She continued to show the way and hit the half half first in :56.2. Bye Bye Felicia made her move first-over down the backstretch as Prairie Westerngal maintained the lead to three-quarters in 1:24.1.
As they headed to the stretch, Come Get The Cash tried to sneak in at the cones while Bye Bye Felicia continued to pressure Prairie Westerngal. Bye Bye Felicia finally wore down the runner-up Prairie Westerngal to win in 1:52.4. Talk Show Chica (Corey Braden) came up to finish third.
Bye Bye Felicia is a seven-year-old mare by Woodstock owned by Rick Howles and trained by John Hallett. It was her fourth win this season. She now has 30 career victories.
Burn Notice ($3.10) held on to win the $9,000 Open Trot.
Golden Kronos (MacDonald) led to the first quarter in :27.3. Burn Notice took the lead with one lap to go and led to the half in :56.4. Massive Opulence (Boyd) was the first to challenge, going first-up down the backstretch. But Burn Notice continued to lead and hit three-quarters first in 1:25.2.
As they made the turn for home, Burn Notice shook off Massive Opulence and got loose in the stretch. Then My Lindy Winner (Mike Simons) came flying late, but had to settle for second as Burn Notice hung on to win in 1:54.3. Lightfootedlegend (Renaldo Morales III) finished third.
Burn Notice is a six-year-old gelding by Cayenne Turbo owned by WHR Trust and trained by Mike Deters. It was his eighth win this season and 21st of his career.
Wally Hennessey drove four winners on the card. Mike Deters trained three winners. Braxten Boyd and John MacDonald each had driving doubles, and John Hallett enjoyed a training double.
