Century Farroh Ships And Wins
Off two stakes engagements at The Meadowlands, last year’s O’Brien Horse of the Year Century Farroh returned to the Woodbine Mohawk Park winner’s circle on Saturday (July 24) after taking the $34,000 Preferred Handicap Pace.
Driver Sylvain Filion secured the pocket for Century Farroh as Wheels On Fire took the front to a :26.4 opening quarter over the “sloppy” going. Century Farroh stayed put while Wheels On Fire flaunted his usual speed to a :55 half and past three-quarters in 1:22.4. Enduring and then putting away first-over pressure from Matticulous GB, Wheels On Fire turned into the stretch still with the lead but began to drift from the pylons. A seam then opened for Century Farroh to fire through, and the five-year-old Mach Three stallion slid to the top in progress to a 1:50.3 win by 2-1/2 lengths. Sintra rallied for second while Wheels On Fire faded to third.
Owned by Ratchford Stable NS, Century Farroh won his second race from nine starts this season and his 22nd from 51 overall, earning $1,495,167. Dr. Ian Moore trains the $5.00 winner.
