‘Skyroller’ Swoops At Red Shores
Coming from worst to first, Woodmere Skyroller delivered as the post time favourite in the top event of the evening Thursday at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Corey MacPherson supplied the winning steer for trainer Kevin MacLean and owner Reg MacPherson of Stratford as the champion daughter of Rollwithitharry won in 1:58.1 over a muddy track rated two-seconds off. Gonna Fool Ya (Driven by David Dowling) was first to the lead in the $2,900 Fillies and Mares preferred class and put down splits of :29.2 and :59.2 before Woodmere Skyroller appeared from the back of the pack and made front at the three-quarters of 1:28.4. Gonna Fool Ya fought back in the final panel to fall half-a-length short in second with Killean Finale (Ken Murphy) third.
MacPherson was the recipient of a driving triple on the night as he also won with Howmac Blaze in 1:59.3 for trainer Michelle Myers and with Rave Review in 2:01.1 from the Ron Gass stable.
Gass had a training double in his own right as Miss Sangria was also a winner in 1:58.4 in line to Adam Merner.
Glider Man led at every call and fended off his challengers in the top trot of the evening. The $2,500 class saw Walter Cheverie point Glider Man to the lead and close out the mile in 2:01.1 for trainer and co-owner Jenn Doyle and co-owner Danny Birt of Earnscliffe. Majian Tango (Jim Ripley) closed hard for second with Mile Hill Willie (Gilles Barrieau) third.
