NYSS To Monticello Monday
The New York Sire Stakes program returns to Monticello Raceway on Monday (July 19), when two-year-old pacing fillies will highlight the 13-race card with over $180,000 in purses. Post time is 12:10 p.m.
On the program, there are three $34,200 Sire Stakes splits, four $15,000 Excelsior A dashes, and two $6,700 Excelsior B heats.
The first division of Sire Stakes action is carded as race eight. Reenactment was a winner last start at Harrah's Philadelphia, scoring in 1:56.1 for trainer Linda Toscano. Scott Zeron will drive from post six. Su Su Sussudio took a mark of 1:59 by virtue of her win in the Landmark Series at Goshen. She will be driven by Renaldo Morales III from post five.
In the second heat, Just Divine and Yannick Gingras will score from the rail. The $160,000 daughter of Huntsville has been installed the 5-2 morning line favourite after a second-place finish at The Meadowlands, pacing her mile in 1:51.3 and covering the last quarter in an eye-popping :25.3. A Girl That Twirls (Simon Allard) won her NYSS heat at Buffalo in 1:55.2 in her last start and will start from post five for trainer Chip Lackey.
In the last division of Sire Stakes, Twenty Grand will start from the outside post seven for trainer Ray Schnittker, with Mark MacDonald handling the driving asignment. She was a NYSS winner last week in Buffalo in 1:56.4. Throw The Dice (post six) was sharp in her last effort at Harrah's Philadelphia, were she scored in 1:54.3. The daughter of American Ideal is trained by Linda Toscano with Scott Zeron in the sulky.
The New York Sire Stakes returns to Monticello on Monday, July 26, when three-year-old trotting fillies take the stage.
