Drivers Book Off After WFR Accident

Drivers Doug McNair and Nick Steward booked off their remaining drives after being involved in a three-horse accident during Friday’s fourth race at Western Fair Raceway

.

As the field approached the three-quarters mark, the first over Peruvian Desire (Alfred Carroll) took a bad step and fell to the track, which caused a chain reaction behind him. Ima Red Neck Filly (Doug McNair) tried to steer to the inside but hit the wheel of the Peruvian Desire and subsequently fell as well. Presidents Pick was also involved in the incident and unseated his driver Nick Steward.

According to reports from Western Fair, the ORC vet examined all horses involved in the accident and they appeared to have some minor scrapes and bruises. Carroll, who did drive later on the card, rebounded with a victory aboard Albergetty (1:58.3), but both McNair and Steward booked off their remaining drives for precautionary reasons.

McNair told Trot Insider that he injured both of his elbows in the fall while Steward went to hospital with a sore hip.
