Chef Lee Serves Major Meadows Upset
Dismissed at a juicy 32-1, the classy veteran Chef Lee cooked up a long shot special when he shot the Lightning Lane to capture Thursday’s (June 24) feature at The Meadows, a $10,300 conditioned trot.
Gonnawishonastar threw down a swift 1:24.4 three-quarters, but couldn’t withstand the inside charge of Chef Lee and Brady Brown, who triumphed in 1:54.1. Gonnawishonastar saved second, three-quarters of a length back, with Wilberforce third.
Norm Parker trains and owns Chef Lee, a nine-year-old Cantab Hall-Summer Savory gelding who extended his lifetime bankroll to $439,135. It was Brown’s fifth win over the last two programs.
Aaron Merriman collected four wins on the 13-race card while Brown has bagged six over the last two programs.
Live racing at The Meadows continues Friday (June 25); first post is 12:45 p.m.
