Platine Alpha Tackles Older Mares

Platine Alpha may be the only filly going against older mares at Hippodrome 3R on Friday (June 25), but the daughter of Control The Moment has shown the ability to show her heels to her older rivals.

Pegged as the 5-2 morning line favourite in the Fillies and Mares Preferred Handicap Pace — which is programmed as the eighth of 10 races on the card — Platine Alpha has been the shining star for the Alpha Stable.

Bred, owned and trained by Sylvain Temblay, Platine Alpha has made seven starts this year with four victories, all at H3R, which ties her with Diamond Rock as the winningest horses this meet.

In her last start, Platine Alpha scored a lifetime best 1:57 for driver Pascal Bérubé and the duo will go at it Friday from post six. She has shown the ability to win from both on and off the pace.

Taking on Platine Alpha for the first time is Playa Duharas (Stéphane Gendron), who starts from post four. The Sunshine Beach mare is moving up in class having won two of her last three starts at H3R, the fastest a 1:58 clocking last week.

Sophies Cam (Stéphane Brosseau) returns to the racing wars after being off two months due to the pandemic. She qualified at H3R last week in 1:59.2 and goes from post seven.

Rounding out the field are Godiva Mackiavelyc (post 1), Fancy Girl (post 2), Y C Easy (post 3), Topsill Beach (post 5) and Shemaksmefelunreal (post 8).

Post time Friday is 4 p.m. For a free race program, visit www.hippodrome3r.ca.
