Another Open Victory For Allard

After capturing Saturday’s Open Pace at Woodbine Racetrack with Dali, trainer Rene Allard returned for more. On Monday night, Rose Run Hooligan went wire-to-wire to win the $50,000 Open Trot

Driven by Rene’s brother Simon Allard, who is currently the winningest driver in Canada, Rose Run Hooligan left from Post 4 and battled with outsiders Sakic Seelster (Mario Baillargeon) and 4-5 favourite Armbro Chronicle (Mike Saftic) for the top spot around the first turn. Rose Run Hooligan emerged as the leader before the first quarter in :26.4 and put up the remaining panels of :56 and 1:25.1 en route to a three length score in 1:54.3.

After settling in fifth, Armbro Chronicle journeyed first over to finish second while Scorpion Moon (Luc Ouellette) followed for third. Rose Run Hooligan returned $8.70 to win as the 3-1 second choice.

Rose Run Hooligan is now two-for-two this year with $42,500 banked. Rene shares ownership of the seven-year-old son of Corleone-Centergy with Anne O’Keefe of Ferryland, Nfld. and Ferme Bureau Et Fils Senc of Saint-Leonard, Que. Rose Run Hooligan now sports 31 victories on his resume and earnings equaling $502,347.
