Hernandez Scores One-Two Punch At 'Aces'
Trainer Edward Hernandez sent the top-two finishers in the $12,000 Open Pace on Tuesday night (June 22) at Running Aces, with So So De Vie getting home three-quarter lengths ahead of stablemate Parklane Jet in a 1:52.4 mile.
Driver Dean Magee got away fifth with Parklane Jet and then launched a first-over bid up the backstretch to apply heavy pressure to race leader Stuckey Dote before taking a short lead as they approached the wire. Meanwhile, Brady Jenson got away third with So So De Vie and saved ground throughout, surging through the passing lane in deep stretch to get by Parklane Jet and register his fifth win of the season for owner Jose Cervantes. Castle Flight travelled in the pocket all the way and angled out with late pace to surge at the wire and get home in third. So So De Vie paid $32.00 to win.
Dean Magee registered a driving Grand Slam on the program, taking the first two and the last two races on the night. He registered wins with Dashboard ($9.00), Scarlett Ruby ($4.40), Martha Big Rig ($4.00), and Perseus Seelster ($6.00).
Jacob Cutting completed a driving Hat-Trick on the card, scoring with Sin Machqueen ($2.10), Elusive Image ($4.60), and Mystery Dragon ($9.60).
Edward Hernandez was the only trainer to score a double on the Tuesday card.
