Soccer Hanover Rolls In Summerside
Soccer Hanover found himself in unfamiliar territory as he went to front and never looked back in the Friday evening feature at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Corey MacPherson sent the Leith Waite trained Soccer Hanover to the lead from the start in the $2,950 preferred pace and repelled post time favourite Moonwriter (Driven by David Dowling), forcing him into the two-hole. Soccer Hanover continued his forward motion through rated splits of :29, :58.4 and 1:28 before unloading a :28.2 closing panel to win by over a length in 1:56.2. Moonwriter was second with Pictonian Storm (Marc Campbell).
Trainer Waite co-owns Soccer Hanover with Les and Spencer Waite of Charlottetown.
Jaycob Sweet got the monkey off his back as the former leading matinee racetrack program driver scored his first pari-mutuel win in the evening opener with Cinder Angelina in 2:01.1. His brother Jansen Sweet trains the 13-year-old daughter of American Ideal.
The driver wasted no time on finding the winner’s circle again as Khitam Image gave Sweet another driving victory in 1:58.2 in his next drive in Race 6 from the Marvyn Webster barn.
Dowling had three winners on the night steering Precious Amber (2:04.1) to a maiden win from the Blaine McKenna barn, Southfield Sandy (1:58.4) to the winner’s circle for trainer Glen MacKay, Sr. and Egamer (1:57.2) to the line first for Garth Cole.
