Last Call For Summer Mixed Entries
The entry deadline for the Tattersalls Summer Mixed Sale is Tuesday, June 22, according to sale manager David Reid. After that time, only supplements will be accepted.
Those entering horses may do so online at tattersallsredmile.com or by calling the sales company office at (914) 773-7777.
The sale, which bills itself as “the summer racehorse marketplace,” is back this year after missing 2020 due to the pandemic shutdown. Scheduled for Sunday, July 18, it will wrap up what’s expected to be an exciting Meadowlands Pace weekend at the sport’s flagship track.
The Summer Mixed will be an in-person sale and will also be shown “live” online. Real-time bidding will again be offered by Proxibid for those unable to attend.
“The main catalogue is filling out nicely with quality racehorses,” Reid said. “Whether someone wants to ‘test the waters’ in the marketplace with a promising two-year-old or send a seasoned performer, buyers will be out in force.”
Reid said having an in-person sale gives buyers the advantage of coming in and getting a firsthand inspection of the horses. “And nothing compares to that,” he added.
A sale headliner is sure to be the stakes winner and open-class trotter Eurobond 4,1:50.1 ($336,650), who’s coming into the sale off impressive back-to-back wins in the $20,000 Open Trot at Plainridge, with those scores in 1:53 and 1:54.1 over the 5/8-mile track.
The last Tattersalls Summer Mixed – in 2019 – posted the highest average in the summer sale’s history, and with the current demand for racehorses, Reid said another record could be on the way this year.
