Hesohot Hanover Repeats At Meadows
Hesohot Hanover strolled through a :59 opening half, then drew off at the three-quarters and rolled to his second straight victory in Thursday’s (June 17) co-feature at The Meadows, a $9,800 conditioned trot.
Once Dave Palone cut the three-year-old Bar Hopping-Hotentrot Hanover gelding loose, there was no catching him. He led by four lengths turning for home and scored under wraps in 1:55.2, matching his career best. The pocket-sitting The Great PG was second, beaten 2-3/4 lengths, with Killer Instinct third.
Tim Twaddle trains Hesohot Hanover for Todd Coleman and Jackson Wittup.
In Thursday’s other co-feature, also a $9,800 conditioned trot, Mahomes surged late to pull off a 7-1 upset in 1:56.4 for Mike Wilder, trainer Dana Kahrig and owners Kahrig Racing Stable and Cache is King LLC. Upfront Stone and East Laker completed the ticket.
Elsewhere on Thursday’s card, Start A Ruckus proved that good things come to those who wait; he broke his maiden in 1:55.1 after beginning his career with 42 straight losses. Shawn Johnston drove, trains and owns the four-year-old Well Said-Ruth Plumsted gelding.
Wilder collected four wins and Brady Brown three on the 13-race card while Wilbur Yoder fashioned a training-driving double.
Live racing at The Meadows continues Friday (June 18), when the 13-race program features a $10,000 total-pool guarantee for the Pick-5 (race eight) as well as a $1,462.10 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
