Subban Speeds To Breeders Win
MST Racing and George Teague Jr's Subban was the fastest of three Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund $20,000 divisions for three-year-old colt and gelding pacers Monday at Harrington Raceway, capturing his split in 1:55.2 by a length.
The Southwind Lynx gelding and driver Montrell Teague inherited a pocket trip behind pacesetter First State Joni and surged to the lead via the passing lane in deep stretch for his fourth career win. First State Joni set all the fractions and was second, while Zs Dream was parked out much of the mile and finished third. Trained by Clyde Francis, Subban won the $100,000 DSBF at two over Harrington's half-mile oval. He paid $7.60 to win.
Teague and Francis also teamed up to win the first DSBF split with heavily favoured Henrico ($2.10, Teague) who was an open length winner in 1:56.1 over Squeak On By and Mister Ramsey. The Delmarvalous gelding notched his fourth career victory. Teague had five driving wins on the card, three for trainer Josh Green in addition to the two for Francis.
KDK Standardbreds' Archie And Emerson ($2.10, Jason Thompson) won the final division in 2:00 over Dollar Bill Startt and Spinologist. Trained by Dylan Davis, the Delmarvalous gelding recorded his fourth lifetime win in wire-to-wire fashion. Thompson had a driving double.
