Moonwriter Doubles Up In Summerside
Controlling every step of the mile, Moonwriter delivered as the heavy favourite in Sunday afternoon's (May 30) $3,200 Preferred Pace at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
David Dowling was at the controls of Moonwriter, who waltzed through splits of :30, :59.1, 1:28.3 and 1:56.2 to win by a length over Pictonian Storm (Marc Campbell). Screen Test (Corey MacPherson) completed the triactor ticket. Colin Johnson trains Moonwriter for Debbie Element.
Campbell scored a driving triple on the day with Hunger Pangs (1:55.3) for trainer Blaine McKenna, La Vie En Rose (1:59) for Glenn MacKay Jr., and Watts Of Attitude (1:58.1) from his own barn.
Jason Hughes made three straight trips to the winner’s circle in races 5, 6 and 7. including a pair of victories from the Oakes stable of Warren Grove. Hughes and Oakes teamed up to win with Somebodys Me (1:58.1) in a maiden-breaking score in race 5 and with Twin B Shadow (1:58.1) in race 7. Hughes also steered Disneyman (1:58.1) to victory for trainer Ron Gass in race 6.
Live racing continues Thursday and Saturday evening at Red Shores Charlottetown and Friday evening at Red Shores Summerside with 6 p.m. post times for all programs.
Total handle was $48,194.
