Sunday Double Feature At Tioga
Winning Legends (Justin Huckabone) and Ideal Jimmy (Jody Jamieson) captured Sunday's (May 30) co-featured $9,000 Opens on their respective gaits at Tioga Downs.
Winning Legends ($7.00) breezed to an easy win in the Open Trot.
Winning Legends worked forward to seize control from Creekside Pete (Corey Braden) just before hitting the first quarter in :28 and rating a :57.4 half. I Got The Looks (Drew Monti) advanced first-over up the backstretch, but Winning Legends shook off that challenge and led to three-quarters in 1:25.1. Turning for home, Creekside Pete popped out of the pocket and took to the chase, but Winning Legends was too strong and won easily in 1:54.3. Creekside Pete had to settle for second; I Got The Looks finished third.
Winning Legends is a six-year-old gelding by Winning Mister trained by Huckabone for owner Jonathan Applebaum. It was his third win of the season and the 18th of his career.
Ideal Jimmy ($7.90) charged late to take the Open Pace.
Ideal Jimmy went straight to the lead but yielded to Rebellious (Wally Hennessey) just after a :27.1 first quarter. Rebellious controlled the pace through middle splits of :55.2 and 1:22.3. As they headed to the stretch, Ideal Jimmy pounced out of the pocket and went right on by in deep stretch to win in a lifetime best of 1:50.1. Rebellious was second; Waimac Attack N (Michael Merton) finished third.
Ideal Jimmy is an eight-year-old gelding by Western Ideal owned by D R Van Witzenburg and trained by Erv Miller. Ideal Jimmy won for the fourth time this season. He now has 29 career victories.
