'Zenfire' Thrashes Red Shores Feature

Controlling the race from the word ‘go,’ Dreamfair Zenfire thumped her fillies and mares preferred pace rivals on Thursday evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Marc Campbell hustled his trainee to the lead in the $2,950 featured pace and guided Dreamfair Zenfire through uncontested splits of :28.3, :58, 1:27.2 and 1:55.4. Larjon Legacy (Driven by Gilles Barrieau) grabbed the deuce while Ladylike (David Dowling) rallied to complete the Triactor ticket.

The winning daughter of Sunfire Blue Chip is owned by Ryan and Everett MacLeod of Souris.

Corey MacPherson was the hottest reinsman of the evening with a driving triple at the capital oval. Magical Cowgirl (2:01.3) opened up the action in Race 1 from the Ron Gass stable with MacPherson above the wheels with the driving and training duo also winning Race 4 with Dustylane Zambucca (1:59.1).

MacPherson’s third win was in the $2,700 Open trot with Atlantic trotting mare record holder Hop Up rushing up the passing lane to beat the boys in 2:00.3 for owner-trainer Keith Campbell of Victoria West. Freddie (Campbell) was second in the Open trot with Glider Man (Jason Hughes) cutting out the fractions and finishing third.

Live racing continues Saturday evening at 6 p.m. at Red Shores Charlottetown and Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
