Canadian T-Bred Graded Stakes Set
The Canadian Graded Stakes Committee met on January 30, 2010 to review races eligible for grading for 2010. Thirty-five races were given graded status.
Following the meeting, Michael Byrne, Chairman of the Canadian Graded Stakes Committee, announced that five races received Grade 1 status, 9 races received Grade 2 status and 21 races were given Grade 3 status.
Two changes were made from the 2009 schedule: The Nearctic Stakes was upgraded from Grade 2 to Grade 1 and the Scotts Highlander Stakes was upgraded from Grade 3 to Grade 2.
To qualify for graded status in Canada, races must carry the following minimum purses; $250,000 CDN - Grade 1, $150,000 CDN - Grade 2 and $100,000 CDN - Grade 3.

So......... Why didn't the Canadian Derby from Edmonton Northlands @ $300,000 make the list of graded stakes. The purse offered looks like it makes the "grade". Is there only T-bred racing at Woodbine and Hastings in Canada?
