Century Downs Set To Return

Harness racing is set to return to Century Downs on Tuesday (May 18) with the oval hosting a 12-race card beginning at 2:15 p.m. (MDT)

The feature race on the card sees a group of nine face the gate in the finale in the $8,100 Open Pace.

Morning line favourite Just A Start (Post 7 – Brandon Campbell) will make his third start of the season, and he’ll be looking for his first win of the campaign after third- and fifth-place finishes at Fraser Downs. The five-year-old son of Western Terror is a seven-time winner to date.

Armycaptin Hanover (Post 6 – Kelly Hoerdt) is the 7-2 second choice, and he has yet to miss the board in his first three starts of the year. He notched a 1:53.4 win versus Open foes at Fraser Downs on April 9 before getting roughed up and finishing third in that same class one week later. The 13-time winner is closing in on $75,000 in lifetime earnings.

Century Downs has 48 race dates approved for 2021 from May 18 through Nov. 7. Racing will take place at Century Downs on Tuesdays to start the season, adding Sundays to its racing schedule beginning on May 30. Racing will switch to Century Mile for 11 race days beginning Nov. 20 on a Saturday-Sunday schedule through Nov. 12, when racing will take place only on Sunday.

These dates are subject to change according to Paul Ryneveld, General Manager of Century Downs.
