Indiana Casinos Split
In a surprising development, the Casino Association of Indiana has said 'no, thanks' to legislative support to allow them to move inland
.
Some members have recently paid to have their big riverboats renovated and upgraded, and did not want others to save that money by moving inland.
Legislators who had supported the move were not happy. State senator Earlene Rogers of Gary, a strong proponent, said, “The short-sightedness of the Casino Association is appalling to me,” and she warned the association they might have a harder time generating support next time they seek it.
She told courierpress.com, “I’ve been around this place long enough to know that you have to strike while the iron is hot, and you have to strike when the stars are lined up, and that may not be the case in subsequent sessions.”
