OSS, Prospect Schedule Update
In response to the current suspension of live racing due to the provincial stay-at-home order, Ontario Racing’s Standardbred Horse Improvement Program (SIP) Committee is reviewing the 2021 Ontario Sires Stakes and Prospect Series schedules.
While the current stay-at-home order expires May 19, the Ontario government indicated earlier this week that the order may be extended until June 2. The Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) and Prospect Series events that would be affected by an extension are:
Three-year-old colt pace:
-
May 22 — Gold Leg 1 — Woodbine Mohawk Park
-
May 22 — Prospect Series 1 — Hiawatha Horse Park
-
May 23 — Grassroots Series 1 — Flamboro Downs
Three-year-old colt trot:
-
May 23 — Prospect Series 1 — Clinton Raceway
-
May 28 — Gold Leg 1 — The Raceway at Western Fair District
-
May 29 — Grassroots Series 1 — Hiawatha Horse Park
Three-year-old filly pace:
-
May 30 — Prospect Series 1 — Dresden Raceway
-
May 31 — Grassroots Series 1 — Woodbine Mohawk Park
-

Three-year-old filly trot:
-
May 30 — Prospect Series 1 — Clinton Raceway
-
June 3 — Grassroots Series 1 — Woodbine Mohawk Park

As a result, the SIP Committee will be reviewing the schedule and making any necessary adjustments. Once a date for racing to resume is confirmed by the Ontario government, the SIP Committee will finalize the schedule and communicate the changes to the harness racing industry.
